Frequently Asked Questions

Simple answers to the questions we hear most often.

Why should I see a chiropractor?

Life is stressful—physical, emotional, and chemical. Over time, that stress can cause the bones of your spine to shift and interfere with your nervous system. That's a vertebral subluxation. Most of the time, you can't feel it. But it still messes with your body's ability to function at its best. My job is to find those subluxations and gently help your body correct them.

How does chiropractic work?

Your body runs on your nervous system. Your brain sends messages down your spinal cord and out to every organ and tissue. When the bones of your spine aren't where they should be, they can interfere with those messages—like a kink in a garden hose. An adjustment removes that interference so your body can do what it already knows how to do.

What is straight chiropractic?

We focus on detecting and correcting vertebral subluxation—tiny misalignments in the spine that interfere with your nervous system. When we remove that interference, your body is free to express life at its fullest.

What is a vertebral subluxation?

It's when one or more of the bones in your spine move out of their proper position and interfere with your nervous system. That interference disrupts the messages traveling between your brain and your body, which can throw your whole system out of balance. And like I said—you usually don't feel it.

What causes subluxations?

Three things: physical stress (falls, accidents, birth process, repetitive motions), emotional stress (worry, grief, anger, fear), and chemical stress (alcohol, drugs, poor diet, pollution). Emotional stress is the most common cause I see. Usually it's a combination of all three.

How do I know if I have a subluxation?

Most of the time, you don't. Some subluxations come with pain or muscle spasms, but lots of them don't. They can be there for years without you knowing. The only way to know for sure is to get your spine checked by trained hands. It's like cavities—by the time you feel it, it's been there a while.

Is chiropractic safe? Can you adjust my newborn or my grandparents?

Yes, absolutely. Chiropractic works for everyone from brand-new babies to the most delicate seniors. I use different techniques depending on who you are, how your body is built, and what you need. No two people get adjusted exactly the same way. And no—it doesn't hurt. Most people actually love getting adjusted.

How much does a first visit cost?

The New Patient Exam is $210. But with the Box on the Wall, you pay what you can afford—and the first visit is included. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds.

How long does a visit take?

Not long at all. I know your time is valuable, and I hate waiting in doctors' offices too. Most visits are just a few minutes—you get checked, you get adjusted, and you're on your way.

Do I need X-rays?

Nope. My method of analysis doesn't require them. The vast majority of my practice members never need any imaging. But if something comes up during your exam that suggests you should get further testing, I'll tell you—and you can go to whoever you trust to do it.

Will an adjustment fix me?

No, and I want to be honest about that. I can't fix you. No doctor can cure anything. Only your body can heal itself. What I can do is help your body function the way it was designed to. I don't remove the darkness—I just add more light.

What is the Box on the Wall?

It's an anonymous, pay-what-you-can option. There's no upper or lower limit. What you give is between you and God. The first visit is always included.

Do you require contracts?

Never. That's not my style. You pay for the month you're here, and if you don't come in, you don't owe anything. No pre-paying for a year. No hundred-visit packages. Just honest care, and you decide how much you want.

How often should I come?

Once a week is an excellent choice, although some folks prefer to come every other week. Ultimately, you choose how often you can get checked, and we only adjust when we find vertebral subluxation. No judgement on how often you come. I recommend one of these two, but ultimately YOU decide.

Do I need insurance?

No. We don't bill insurance. We keep things simple with transparent, out-of-pocket options that fit every budget—New Patient Exam, Box on the Wall, or monthly memberships. If you still want to use your insurance, many other chiropractors in the area are available.

Can my whole family come?

Absolutely. Our Family Membership covers 3–4 people for $200/month, and each additional family member is just $25 more. Kids, grandparents, and everyone in between are welcome. Families can also utilize the Box on the Wall payment option.

Will you try to sell me stuff?

No. This office is chiropractic only. I don't sell vitamins, pillows, orthotics, or supplements. I don't do physical therapy, e-stim, or any of that. If you're looking for those things, I'll happily point you to someone who does it well.

Do you offer massage, physical therapy or e-stim?

No. We offer straight, non-therapeutic chiropractic care. We locate and adjust vertebral subluxation simply because they don't belong there. Besides, massage therapists and physical therapists are better at those things.

My favorite physical therapist is The Damany Center on Tilghman St. in Allentown.

Massage therapists I'd recommend are: Body Kneads and Laura Rusterholtz.

How do I book an appointment?

The easiest way is to go to https://innerhealerchiropractic.com/calendar and click "Book Visit" on the day you would like to come in. Enter your phone number. If you are new, click New Patient Registration, and fill out the form. You can add any family members you like and book for everyone at the same time. Click Next and choose the time that works best for you.

Do you get adjusted yourself?

Yes, every week. My own chiropractor adjusts me regularly. I check my own family too. I believe in this stuff, and I practice what I preach.
